The rules of the table
Kawlit is a daily yes/no call and a place to argue about it with people you know. These terms are the deal between you and us. By making an account or continuing to use Kawlit, you agree to them.
The short version
- You must be 13 or older.
- Play for bragging rights, and treat people the way you would across a real table.
- There is no real money in Kawlit. A stake is a favour between friends; we never process it.
- We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive players. Break the rules and we remove the content, and we can suspend or end the account.
- Every report reaches a person on our team, and we act on it within 24 hours.
- You can block anyone, and you can delete your account in the app at any time.
Who can use Kawlit
You must be 13 or older. One person, one account: do not share an account, sell one, or make more to get around a block, a suspension or a limit. You are responsible for what happens on your account, so keep your Apple or Google sign-in secure.
No money, ever
Kawlit has no payments, no wagering and nothing to cash out. A "stake" is a coffee or a favour you owe a friend, and the app only remembers it. Do not use Kawlit to arrange, record or collect real-money bets. The daily question and its result are for fun; nothing in Kawlit is financial, legal or betting advice.
Community rules
These apply to everything you put in Kawlit: messages, reactions, Kawlit claims and stakes, your handle and your photo. Do not post or send anything that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone, or encourages others to;
- attacks people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, disability, disease, age, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation;
- is sexually explicit or pornographic, or sexualises anyone under 18 in any way (we report that to the authorities);
- glorifies or incites violence, terrorism or violent extremism;
- encourages suicide, self-harm or eating disorders;
- shares someone's private information, such as an address, phone number or private photo, without their permission;
- impersonates another person, or Kawlit or its team;
- is spam, a scam, or an advert, or promotes illegal goods or activity;
- infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights.
Do not try to game the record either: no automated play, no extra accounts to sway a settlement, and no interfering with the app or its servers. Handles are checked against a list of words that are not allowed, and some names are reserved. Messages, claims and stakes that contain slurs or violent extremist terms are refused before anyone sees them.
Reporting, blocking and what we do
Report a message: press and hold it and choose Report. Three reports hide a message for everyone straight away, while we look. Report a player: open their card, or press and hold their name, and choose Report. You can also email support@kawlit.com.
Block a player: you stop seeing everything they write, follows between you end, and neither of you can follow, find or invite the other. They are not told. You can unblock them from Profile → Blocked.
A person on our team reviews every report within 24 hours. When something breaks these rules we remove it — a message, a Kawlit's claim or stake, a photo, or a handle (we replace it with a random one) — and we can suspend the account that posted it. A suspended account cannot post, react, make or join a Kawlit, follow, invite, report, or change its handle or photo; to everyone else it disappears from search, cards and people lists, and its messages are hidden. It can still make the daily call and settle what it owes, because other people's results depend on that. We can lift a suspension, or end an account for good. Deleting an account does not get around a suspension: if it was suspended, or deleted while a report about it was still open, the same sign-in can be suspended again on any new account. If you think we got it wrong, email support@kawlit.com.
Your content
What you post stays yours. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store it and show it to the people it was meant for, as the privacy policy describes, for as long as Kawlit needs to run. A Kawlit is a shared record: when you leave or delete your account, the debts and receipts from Kawlits you played stay, with your name removed. We can remove anything that breaks these terms.
Kawlits and settlements
The person who makes a Kawlit calls the result; everyone else has 24 hours to accept or dispute it, and a majority can overrule the call. The daily question settles against the source it names. We keep settlements as they were recorded and do not referee arguments outside the app.
The app
We work to keep Kawlit running and fair, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, pause or retire features. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for what other players post. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live that cannot be limited.
If you got Kawlit from the App Store
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Kawlit on any Apple-branded product you own or control, as the Usage Rules in Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions permit, including use by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing. Apple is not responsible for Kawlit or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Kawlit is free; to the extent any warranty applies and Kawlit fails to meet it, you may tell Apple, and Apple's only obligation is to refund any price you paid (there is none). Apple is not responsible for any claim about Kawlit, including product liability, failure to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection or privacy claims; those are ours to handle. If anyone claims that Kawlit or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim. You confirm you are not in a country under a US government embargo or named as a terrorist-supporting country, and not on a US government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You must also follow any third-party terms that apply, such as your mobile carrier's. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Changes
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant we will say so in the app and ask you to agree again before you next post.
